Colchester United
Colchester United Football Club was formed in 1937 and admitted to the Football League in 1950. After finishing 2nd in League One, Colchester United will compete in the Coca Cola Championship in 2006/07. The Football Club has its home ground at Layer Road in Colchester which is owned by Colchester Borough Council , has a capacity of 6200 but the club are hoping to move to a new stadium, code named Cuckoo Farm in the near future.

Directions To The Stadium
The stadium is approached via the A12. Exit at the junction with the A1124 signposted Cambridge/Halstead. At the end of the slip road, turn left into Essex Yeomanry Way. Continue to the roundabout, and then go straight over into London Road continueing to follow the A1124 Halstead, for about 3/4 of a mile. At the traffic lights next to the MFI Homeworks turn right at these lights into Lexden Straight Road. Continue along Lexden Straight Road, from the sixth min roundabout the ground is signposted.

Having finished 2nd in League One with 79 pts , Colchester FC will compete in the Coca Cola Championship in 2006/07. Colchester United boss Phil Parkinson has begun preparations for next season by letting Sam Stockley, Gareth Williams, Stephen Hunt and Tony Thorpe leave the club.
