Colchester Zoo

Colchester Zoo is located at Maldon Road , Stanway, Colchester ,Essex : CO3 0SL, just south of Colchester. Take the A1124 exit off the main A12 following the signs for the zoo. From the M25: The zoo is about 40 minutes from Junction 28 of the M25 to reach the A12 and about 40 miles from Southend.

The zoo is open daily except Christmas Day as follows:-

• 09:30 - 18:30 July and August
• 09:30 - 18:00 Easter – September and June.
• 09:30 - 17:00 October - March (or dusk if earlier)

Colchester Zoo has over 250 species of animals set in 60 acres of land. 41 species at Colchester are part of EEP or ESB breeding programmes (European Endangered species breeding programmes)

Education Program

School groups of 15 people or more qualify for a discount on the entry prices. The zoo offers over 30 different talks on a wide variety of topics, from Key Stage 1 right through to Higher Education. There are also over 30 daily feed and display times offering an interesting and varied day out for pupils.

Events & Attractions

The zoo offers the chance to adopt an animal and there are also a variety of other unsual gifts available in the Colchester Zoo's two shops which can be visited without entering the rest of the zoo. There is also an online shop which can be acessed from the zoo website. The zoo also hosts children's birthday parties and has many ways for people to participate in its conservation work.
